Agerpoint announces Notice of Allowance for Forestry Management Tool Patent

Forestry Management Tool for Assessing Risk of Catastrophic Tree Failure

Agerpoint, an innovator in geospatial intelligence and data engineering that develops technologies to digitize, analyze and comprehend natural environments, announced today receipt of a Notice of Allowance for a new patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The USPTO issues Notice of Allowances when the patent application has passed examination. The patent not only increases the Agerpoint patent portfolio to nine, but also further expands intellectual property into forestry and conservation applications.

This patent builds on the expertise of the Agerpoint portfolio and team, and provides systems, apparatuses, and methods for determining a risk of catastrophic failure for a tree based on a mechanistic model of physical characteristics of trees. This includes a mobile sensing platform comprising one or more sensors for obtaining data and a positioning sensor configured to precisely calculate geographic coordinates of the positioning sensor and the location of the positioning sensor relative to a reference object, and a processor configured to fuse the imaging data and the positioning data in order to determine conditions for catastrophic tree failure.

Bobby Vick, VP of Technology of Agerpoint commented, “This patent is further evidence of Agerpoint’s continued focus on developing differentiated technology, grounded in science, and is also targeted at two of our strategic growth markets - forestry and conservation.”
